位于广东西南雷州半岛的湛江市,下辖五县四区,现有中小学2691所,在校生127万多人。改革开放之初的湛江学校体育工作,在全国就小有名气。经过10多年的不懈努力,到九十年代,又有了长足的进步。 一个有趣的数据对比足以说明问题。湛江拥有600万人口,从经济水平看,在广东省仅可排到第九位左右,属中下水平;教育投入(人均经费)也只能排到十七八位。但从教育效益看,这些年却始终排在全省前几位。有关部门的一项统计数字表明,湛江市学校体育场地器材达标率,中、小学分别为86.73％和95.26％(全国平均数分别为15.03％和14.14％),远远超出全国平均水平。这些年,湛江市靠自
