Twenty-six years ago, the U.S. Department of Defense set up an interactive network that saw it as a communications system that could even withstand a nuclear strike. But the global computer network itself is now a serious threat to national security and the most vulnerable to “terrorist information” The target of the attack. The “information terrorist” quietly connected to the computer network, cutting off the power supply in New York and Los Angeles; the computer fans undermined the communications between the U.S. military bases; the electronic accounts of tax and electronic insurance were mysteriously changed. These horrendous episodes are not episodes in which Hollywood films, and Washington is now beginning to seriously consider the potential of computer networks to be used to weaken public confidence, destroy crucial services, disrupt economies or undermine military capabilities.
