Ye Ting and Xiang Ying, two revolutionary intellectuals inseparable from the names of the New Fourth Army. They held the common wish of resisting Japan and saving the nation, came together for the formation of the New Fourth Army and made major contributions to the construction of the New Fourth Army. Because of differences in the guidelines and direction of the New Fourth Army's military struggle, they finally separated by tragedy in the Southern Anhui incident that stunned China and other countries: Was detained for five years after being interrogated by the Kuomintang troops and unfortunately was caught in an air disaster after being released. After the British breakout, Xiang Ying avoided being trashed by traitors in the cave. Why do they have a good beginning, but have been different outcome? How to see the non-responsibility between them? Some criticism of Xiang Ying, some people blame Ye Ting, there are equal claims to play 50 plates. It is of great significance to correctly appraise the status and role of Ye and Xiang in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and to study the history of the early New Fourth Army and to summarize the experience and lessons.
