With the current inlay materials and processing technology and the development of dental defect repair concept changes, inlays has become the first choice of dental defect preservation and repair. Finite element method is a mechanical numerical calculation method by means of a computer. It can quickly and effectively establish a model of tooth restoration and simulate the force of the tooth body to analyze the stress of various parts of the tooth, which provides the basis for clinical treatment. The calculated results are in good agreement with the actual results and have been widely used in the field of stomatology, which has played a great role in the development of oral biomechanics. In this paper, the application status and research progress of finite element method in inlay repair are reviewed.
