以中国的“阿Q”闻名于世的严顺开、完成了他自绩、 (与赵化南合作编剧)自导、自演的《阿谭内传》。这部福建电影制片厂投产的喜剧片也是严顺开“三部曲”(《阿Q正传》、《阿混新传》、《阿谭内传》)的最后一部。但他并不想让观众看完之后一笑了之,而期望人们为主人翁阿谭掬一把同情之泪。整日笑眯眯的严顺开老拍些卓别林后期式的悲喜剧,且不说头上顶个癞疮疤的阿Q偏偏有个让人心酸的畸形灵魂,即便那个没文化的阿混,也不会让人笑得那么轻松;因为阿Q的身后拖着几千年封建悲剧的阴影,而阿混则是文革这场大悲剧的产物。这次严顺开塑造的阿谭,折射出的是海峡两岸骨肉分离的悲剧之光。
