通过对含有黄改系和旅大红骨系的群体一个轮回的改良发现,用这种方法组建的群体后代克服了旅系和黄改系的缺点,提高了抗倒伏耐密植能力和品质,同时保持了旅大红骨类群高配合力的优点。结果表明,经过一个轮回的选择其优良的性状如株高、穗位高得到了有效的降低和聚合,比较有利于群体抗倒伏性的提高;同时减少了秃尖长,增加的耐阴性有利于其作为亲本所组配的杂交种适应黄淮阴雨寡照的气候特点以及高密度种植的需要。配合力测定显示,该群体的自交系与以齐319为代表的热带血缘的群体有比较好的配合力。组配的杂交种适应性较好,可以在育种和生产实践中应用。
