创建于清朝同治四年(1865年)的江南造船(集团)有限责任公司(后简称“江南”),横跨三个世纪,是中国民族工业和国防工业发祥地,中国产业工人的摇篮,中国共产党早期革命的播火地,创造了无数个中国第一,被誉为中国第一厂。新中国成立后,江南以国为家,勇于担当,屡建战功,创造了“国家有困难,赶快找江南”的史话,先后建造了我国第一条万吨轮“东风”号、第一台万吨水压机、第一艘潜艇、第一艘护卫舰、第一艘航天远洋测量船“远望”号、第一次环球航行和首批赴索马里海域执行护航任务的新型导弹驱逐舰等等,一艘艘扬国威、振军威的舰船折射出中国民族工业不断发展壮大的缩影。
