Carbene is a kind of important reaction intermediates in organic chemistry reaction, and phase transfer catalysis is also the reaction type commonly used in organic synthesis. In the teaching of organic chemistry experiments in colleges and universities, 7,7-dichlorobicyclo [4.1.0] heptane is often used as an example to master the reaction of carbene and phase transfer catalysis. However, the materials used in the textbook are quaternary ammonium salts, the most common being triethylbenzylammonium chloride (TEBA). The article will explore the use of non-toxic phase transfer catalyst polyethylene glycol-400 (PEG-400) instead of the more toxic TEBA to reduce the pollution of organic experiments on the environment in the teaching process to reflect the concept of green chemistry.
