对于民族曾经苦难的祭奠,我们做得远远不够。今年2月27日,中国全国人大常委会通过两个决定,确定9月3日为中国人民抗日战争胜利纪念日,将12月13日设立为南京大屠杀死难者国家公祭日。设立国家公祭日,我们的民族并未走在前列。为铭记奥斯威辛集中营的惨剧,德国、英国和意大利等许多国家早已将1月27日定为大屠杀遇难者纪念日。联合国于2005年将这一天确定为“国际大屠杀纪念日”。真实的历史、现实的国际环境,都要求我们必须有一个所有炎黄子孙能够共同祭奠的日子。如今,我们迎来中华民族的第一个由国家层面通过法律程序确定的
We have not done enough for the sacrifices of the nation once suffering. On February 27 this year, the NPC Standing Committee passed two decisions that determined September 3 as the anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japan and December 13 as the national day of sacrifice for the massacres in Nanjing. The establishment of National Day of National Sacrifice, our nation did not go in the forefront. Bearing in mind the tragedy in Auschwitz, many countries, such as Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy, already set January 27 as the anniversary of the victims of the Holocaust. The United Nations identified this day as “Holocaust Remembrance Day” in 2005. True history and a realistic international environment require that we must have a day when all Chinese people can jointly pay their respects. Today, the first we usher in the Chinese nation is determined by the legal process at the national level
