Immunohistochemistry and monoclonal antibodies were used to examine the distribution of Fibronectin (FN) in the mucosa of chronic maxillary sinusitis, and to investigate the relationship between FN and sinusitis. The study was performed on 35 cases of chronic maxillary sinusitis mucosa specimens, fixed in 10% formalin and paraffin embedded into 5μm thick slices. The deparaffinized tissue pieces were treated with 3% hydrogen peroxide to inhibit endogenous peroxidase activity and then treated with normal goat serum to block nonspecific staining.
