According to a recent report by the NASA website, US astronaut Scott Kelly has cultivated a zinnia at the International Space Station and opened the first flower in outer space. This zinnias color appearance and the difference is not the earth, but the petals can not form a beautiful arc. One of the purposes of this plant experiment is to allow astronauts to eat their own vegetables in space. Earlier, astronauts successfully planted Chinese cabbage and lettuce at the space station. Zinnia is more difficult to grow and can be eaten in salads. Astronauts also plan to produce tomatoes by 2018.
