During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Xu Beihong moved to Panxi, in Jiangbei, Chongqing for his artistic creation and research activities, during which many interesting anecdotes were heard. Among them, he painted cats and gifts “Ma ” two small things, a clear reflection of his personality and character. In 1941, Chiang Kai-shek launched the “Southern Anhui Incident” that stunned China and other countries. The progressive faculty and students at National Central University have hated Chiang Kai-shek’s retrograde actions and criticized one after another. Xu Beihong, who teaches at the Art Department of the CUHK, with great indignation, returned to the China Academy of Art which he organized at Panxi.
