罗兰·雷希特的《信仰与观看:哥特式大教堂艺术》(1999)是近年来最重要的研究哥特式艺术的著作。以回望传统为基础,雷希特书写了一部哥特式艺术研究方法与成果的历史,折射出19~20世纪艺术史学科的发展趋势。通过重新评价哥特式艺术的形式、功能、观者与宗教思想和礼仪间的互动关系,他论证了中世纪末期艺术日益增强的可视性趋向,从视觉的角度革新了读者对哥特式艺术的认识。
Roland Recht’s Faith and Watch: The Art of the Gothic Cathedral (1999) is the most important book on Gothic art in recent years. Based on the tradition of returning to the past, Rechter wrote a history of the methods and achievements of Gothic art research, reflecting the development trend of art history from the 19th to the 20th centuries.
