村民委员会是我国农村基层群众性自治组织。1982年12月新的《中华人民共和国宪法》颁布后,在农村实行政社分开、建立乡政府的同时,各地有领导、有计划、有步骤地开展了建立村民委员会的工作。截至目前,全国共建立村民委员会九十多万个。几年来的实践表明,村委会对于促进农村的物质文明建设和精神文明建设,维护农村的安定团结都发挥了巨大的作用。
Villagers committees are the grassroots mass self-governing organizations in rural areas of our country. After the promulgation of the new “Constitution of the People’s Republic of China” in December 1982, while implementing the separation of government and social organizations in rural areas and the establishment of township governments, leaders from all over the country conducted work to establish villagers’ committees in a planned and systematic manner. Up to now, a total of more than 900,000 villagers committees have been established across the country. Practice over the past few years shows that the village committees have played a huge role in promoting the construction of material civilization and spiritual civilization in rural areas and in maintaining the stability and unity of the rural areas.
