The U.S. Army is developing an optical fiber guided missile guidance system that has recently successfully completed a rocket sled test. The guidance system uses an optical fiber to transmit the image data of the missile head sensor to the shooter several kilometers away and transmit the control information sent by the shooter to the missile.
