Gender and marital status are essential characteristics for each borrower and have a profound impact on the borrowing success rate of borrowers in the P2P lending market. This paper uses the trading data of “Everyone Loan” from 2010 to 2015, and conducts an empirical study on whether there is discrimination on the basis of gender and marital status in China’s P2P lending market from the perspectives of investors’ investment decisions and whether borrowers default. The results show that: (1) the gender of the borrower has a significant impact on the success rate and the default rate of borrowing. Male borrowers have low success rates and high default rates, female borrowers have high success rates and low default rates. (2) The marital status of the borrower will also significantly affect the success rate of borrowing, but the impact on the default rate is very insignificant. Although married borrowers have a higher success rate of borrowing, there is no significant difference between their default rates and single borrower. Further research found that the combined effect of gender and marital status affects the main effect of a single eigenvalue on borrowing success rates and default rates. In particular, single women and married men have a lower success rate of borrowing and a higher default rate than married women; single women and married men have a lower success rate of borrowing and have defaults than single men Higher rates.
