说起林榆,粤剧行内行外许多人都会知晓,他早在解放之初任广州军管会文艺处接管组组长,便抓粤剧的戏改和行政管理工作,后曾任广东粤剧团团长、广东粤剧院副院长,同时又是著名的编导,编写过一批好戏,导演过《屈原》、《山乡风云》等名剧。他生于1920年,去年底已度过九十个春秋,广东省文化厅副厅长景李虎,广东粤剧院院长丁凡及蒋文端、曾小敏等名演员都应邀参加了他的寿宴,为他的健康长寿祝福。
