“学海本无涯,唯勤是岸;青云岂有路,以志为梯．”这是一个很有感染力的古训．少年时代,老师曾以此古训作为我小学毕业的赠言,至今我还铭记在心．就我一生而言,最勤奋的经历莫过于20世纪60年代自学英语了．那时工作繁忙,几乎天天加班加点,连星期天也不例外,晚上还有集体活动,可利用的业余时间实在太少,于是出差住招待所、排队购票、等车、乘船都成了我学习英语的最好时间,甚至连出差顺便到名胜景区游览,也要带上英语常用词汇小本本,循环记忆．这种学习精神在“文化大革命”中也没有中断,为我后来的研究工作打下了良好的基础． “Learning is endless, only diligence is the shore; there are roads in the Qingyun area and Zhiyi is a ladder.” This is an instructive ancient training. In my boyhood, my teacher used this ancient training as a gift for my elementary school education. I still remember it. As far as my life is concerned, the most diligent experience has been self-learning English in the 1960s. At that time, the work was busy, working overtime almost every day. Even Sundays were no exception. There were group activities at night and the spare time available was too little. Therefore, visiting a guest house on a business trip, queuing for tickets, waiting for a car, and taking a boat had all become my studies. The best time in English, even traveling to the famous scenic spots to visit, but also to bring the English vocabulary books, circular memory. This learning spirit has not been interrupted during the “Cultural Revolution” and has laid a good foundation for my later research work.
