(一)要求小学算术是进一步学习和参加生产劳动必须掌握的基本工具之一。因此,在小学阶段必须把算术切实学好。新编小学算术课本的教学要求是:使学生牢固地掌握算术的基础知识,培养学生的计算、推理能力和解答应用问题的能力,做到公式熟,运算正确和迅速,书写格式符合规定,并且能够正确地解答应用问题。其次,还要求学生掌握量的计量的知识以及简单几何形体的初步知识,能画一些最简单的图和进行一些最简单的测量。
