用碱洗脱法证明了两个致癌的多环芳烃苯并 [a]芘、二苯并 [a ,h]蒽 ;两个致癌的金属离子的盐 ,即铍盐和镉盐 ;4个致癌的芳香胺 ,即 2 氨基芴、2 萘胺、4 氨基联苯和联苯胺均引起DNA股间交联和DNA 蛋白质之间的交联 .而相应的非致癌剂苯并 [k]萤蒽、蒽、镁离子、锌离子、1 萘胺、2 氨基联苯和间甲苯胺则不能引起交联 .表明上述致癌物质均引起DNA股间交联或DNA 蛋白质间的交联 ,而与双区理论的预言一致 .本方法也可作为判别致癌剂与非致癌剂的一种方法 .
