It is known that pregnancy and oral contraceptives (OC) have an impact on the onset of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and the condition of RA after pregnancy can be alleviated. However, the ultimate impact of pregnancy and OC on the prognosis of RA remains unclear. After a 12-year follow-up, the authors investigated the effects of pregnancy and OC on radiographic damage and disability in RA patients. Methods A total of 138 RA patients diagnosed were selected, all of whom were in accordance with the RA diagnostic criteria of the American College of Rheumatology in 1987, of whom 6 were lost and 132 were followed up for 12 years. 112 patients (85%) Radiographic damage of the hands and feet facet joints using the Sharp score criteria, large joint damage using Larsen score criteria, the use of health assessment questionnaire (HAQ) evaluation of RA work
