中国人民大学出版社成立于1955年,是全国最早成立的大学出版社,1992年被国家确定为全国高校文科教材出版中心之一。现年出版图书500种(包括新书和重印书),是人文社会科学各类教材和高水准的学术著作、工具书的出版基地,还出版教学参考书、译著、重要史料、音像制品,并注重出版新兴学科及边缘学科方面的图书。建社迄今已累计出版教材和学术著作3000多种,现每年向社会征订的人大版高校文科教材达300余种,居各大学出版社之首,上百种教材成为各类高校及高教自考的必备书。一系列在学术上具有领导地位的图书如《中国人民大学丛书》、《中国人民大学博士文库》、《经济科学文库》、《中国传统道德丛书》、《人文丛书》、《清史研究丛书》、《亚里士多德全集》等在社会上享有盛誉。
