《女巫》作为一部童话作品,作者披着儿童视角的外衣站在男权中心主义的立场,刻画了两类女性:一类是以漫画手法刻画的女巫形象,作者对于这类独立女性的代表极尽丑化和恶化之能事。另一类是以姥姥和詹金斯太太为代表的传统女性的典型,顺从和牺牲是她们的特质,而作者对其赞美有加。根据这两类不同女性的塑造,凸显了作者的女性观。作者这种“文学厌女症”的形成,并毫不避讳的在童话作品中表现出来的原因既有社会原因也有出于对童话的特殊职能的男权渗透的因素。总之,这部童话到处充斥着男权思想,在女性主义方面有着重要的研究价值。
