From birth to abroad, I have lived in Minhang Road, Hongkou, Shanghai. It used to be a quiet, neat little street with lined three-story Japanese-style buildings on both sides of the pavement, with rows of pawpaw on the sidewalk. My home in the most East Street, across from the Public Security Bureau accounted for most of the block, the other half is called a new East Lane Kang Lane.
