The US Geological Survey has developed a car-mounted mass spectrometer that measures He content. The instrument was tested at known uranium mines and He anomalies were found in both soil gas and water. Gas samples were collected in a syringe-type sampler and injected into a mass spectrometer for He analysis. Instrument with 10ppb sensitivity can do more than 100 times a day analysis. A detailed study conducted in Wilde County, Colorado, shows that contour maps based on He values for soil gas can delineate anomalous zones, with anomalous relative orebodies offset along the downstream direction of groundwater. Other studies include the following locations: the Schuzandwald uranium mine in Jefferson County, Colorado, where He anomalies may be related to geological formations; areas near Lake Ambrosia in New Mexico, where anomalous He locations are associated with groundwater movement; and Sunday The results of the effect test show that He has little change and may be related to soil moisture.
