1947年2月3日、4日,新华社、新华总社先后播发了《刽子手阎锡山大肆屠杀文水人民》、《女共产党员刘胡兰慷慨就义》两条消息,《晋绥日报》于2月5日、6日在一版刊登了这两条消息,《解放日报》于2月10日刊登了刘胡兰慷慨就义的消息。 刘胡兰的英雄事迹迅速传遍了各革命根据地。
