1908年,奥地利建筑家阿道夫·卢斯发表论文《装饰即罪恶》,强烈抨击设计界滥用装饰,认为装饰不适应工业化、机械化生产,装饰浪费材料、浪费人力物力,极大地增加了产品的生产成本和生产时间。诚然,强调功能第一、效率优先、简洁直线的现代设计的确为现代生活带来了便捷和高效、速度与效率,但是同质化、理性化、冷漠化、批量化的现代设计也让人们失去了对于生活的情趣化和个性化体验。卢斯对装饰提出的三宗罪,从本质上来说,卢斯对装饰的批评实质是批评其没有一种时代价值。本文试图通过其所处的环境背景以及其设计的作品浅析其建筑设计思想中反装饰思想更为深刻的内在本质。
