Different linguistic types of athletes are concerned with locomotion events differently from the chosen vocabulary and syntactic types, and whether or not the different linguistic types are also affected by native-type characteristics when narrated in a second language • Will this type of native speaker’s influence be conditioned by a second language proficiency? In this study, two groups of learners from S-type and V-type languages were collected and analyzed for their use of Chinese to describe motor activity Corpus. The results show that Chinese learners are indeed influenced by the typological characteristics of their native languages when describing the events, but this effect is only reflected in the composition of some movement events. Moreover, the learner’s Chinese level has an influence on the native speaker’s characteristics. Based on this, we put forward some suggestions on how to use Chinese as a second language in lexical syntactic teaching and discourse teaching.
