岭南佳果是岭南古典园林植物中重要的组成部分,在岭南古典园林各个时期中选择栽植果树的用意不尽相同,每个阶段都表现出各个时期的特点,在岭南古典园林萌芽期,封建传统文化盛行,帝王以吃仙果仙桃作为长寿的仙丹而以树海方式来广植果树,到今日的私家宅园栽植果树作为观赏作用.
