Japanese scientists and companies have successfully developed highly efficient synthetic musk technology. The cost of producing artificial musk using this technology is only one-tenth that of producing natural musk. Musk is a natural spice secreted from the fragile glands of the male umbilicus. It is often used as a medicinal material and cosmetics such as high-grade perfumes. Its main ingredient is oxamone, which has a molecular structure of 17 carbon atoms and is quite special.
