晚清民国时期,两广蔗糖运销形成以基本圩镇市场、中心市镇市场、中心城市市场等组成的四级流通网络,糖商成为运销网络的主体。鸦片战争之后,在外国洋糖倾销的冲击下,两广蔗糖运销逐渐走向衰微。民国时期两广蔗糖业现代化的尝试给蔗糖运销带来了一些生机,但被后来的中日战争打断。两广蔗糖运销形成以广东为主、广西为辅,相互依赖的运营模式和特征。
