Most shopping centers focus their design on interiors. People arrange flowers and trees indoors and play wonderful music to stimulate customers’ desire to buy. However, the Fashion Island Mall in California, USA is unique. Fashion Island Shopping Center is a large shopping center that opened in 1976. A group of buildings is arranged in a campus-style environment, and the surrounding area is a parking lot. But it has a very obvious drawback: the outdoor venue is too large, there is no connection between buildings, and the entire shopping mall does not look like an organic whole. The overall idea of the renovation was to turn the shopping mall into a shopping village. So the design focus is outdoors. The shopping village is modeled after the Italian Villa.
