简谐振动在介质中传播,形成简谐波.简谐波既传递振源的振动形式,又传递振源的能量.传递简谐波的质点都在各自的平衡位置附近做简谐振动,并不沿波的传播方向迁移.任一时刻,各质点的位置集合构成波形.一个波长区域内的各质点的振动情况都不一样,而相隔波长整数倍的质点的振动情况相同,波形分布呈周期性;一个周期内的不同时刻,各质点的振动情况不同,而相隔周期整数倍的时刻,质点的振动情况相同,波形变化呈周期性.质点做简谐振动与形成简谐波的关系可概括为以下三点:
