家电下乡、节能补贴、以旧换新三大产业刺激政策陆续终止后，关于家电消费新政策的“消息”层出不穷，其中最引人关注的就是变频空调能否纳入新的补贴之中。中国家电协会秘书长徐东生日前表示：“这项政策不是捕风捉影，确实正在讨论之中。”奥维咨询白电总监韩昱也透露，这项补贴已经立项，由发改委和商务部牵头制定。
