Lavierstein is the song of Swan by Saul Bellow. In this work, Bellow draws the reader through the mouth of narrator Zygque to presenting Ravierstein as a paradoxical but highly charismatic figure of Jewish intellectuals. Bellow inherited his consistent literary and artistic ideas, continued to practice his “legendary” method of creation, described the narrator’s “true impression” of the protagonist, and reflected the author’s “surface-core” aesthetic orientation. Bellow allows us through the phenomenon of a cynical Jewish intellectual who felt his pursuit of “true” and independent thinking of the lovely and drowsy, and his deep concern for the Jewish nation and even the entire human race.
