October 2002, almost all of the brand hard disk collective warranty shrink, became the DIY accessories market one of the most influential events. The hard disk warranty, including boxed products, has been reduced from three years to just a year, reflecting not only the fierce competition in the hard disk market but also frightening users who have experienced IBM’s hard disk incidents. However, two years later, Seagate suddenly announced an extended five-year warranty on hard disks manufactured on June 1, 2004. This is slowly accustomed to 1 year warranty hard disk dealers and users, not as loud thunder. Under the influence of Seagate’s new quality assurance standards, hard disk manufacturers such as Maxtor and Western Digital have started or plan to adjust the product warranty period. The “old” topic of hard disk warranty is again challenged by users and distributors. Now on the market of hard disk products how to warranty? Manufacturers to develop new warranty standards detailed terms in the end how? Dealers and consumers and how to treat?
