Born in 1939 in Lushunkou of Dalian City, Liaoning Province, having graduated in 1963 from the Department of Physics of Jilin University where he majored in magnetics,Mr. Lin Yi has been appointed as a professor since 1987.His current positions include the director of Sub-institute for Magnetic Materials(MA GMAT) of Beijing General Research Institute of Mining & Metallurgy (BGRIMM), executive deputy directol of the State Engineering Research Centre for Magnetic Materials (SERC_(MAG)) which is affiliated to State Science and Technology Committee (SSTC)and the chief member of Engineering and Technology Committee under SERC_(MAG).
