This article is intended to reveal the complexity of Chinese identity as a literary agent in the process of writing Chinese Christian literature. Taking Wang Tao as the main axis, this article discusses the crisis of identity identity crisis between 1850 and 1860 with three assistant missionaries: Guan Xiaoyi, Jiang Dunfu and Wang Tao. He assisted in the translation of the Great American Federal Guide, but resolutely refused to help translate the Bible. Jiang Dun helped Mu Villepin to translate Great Britain’s, but secretly added another version to attack Western political system and the Christianity behind it. Wang Tao is to adopt an adaptive strategy, seeking Huitongruye. Wang Tao infiltrated many elements of Confucianism in assisting in the translation of Chinese Christian literature. The complexity of the three authors’ identities has also affected the writing and interpretation of Christian literature.
