In “From Wall Street to the Great Wall,” metaphor translation is actually a complex process of adaptation. The translators’ adaptation to communicative context includes the aesthetic expectation, acceptability and socio-cultural context of the target audience. In general, the translator tries his best to preserve the metaphor in order to satisfy the aesthetic expectation of the target audience on the premise of being acceptable to the target audience. Some metaphors are specific to the financial domain, or concepts, and translators use a variety of translation techniques to keep them.
