Men's emphasis on the physical appearance and young characteristics of women when choosing long-term spouses reflects their sensitivity to the quality directly associated with the reproductive value of women. Beautiful young wives make it possible for them to have genetically superior offspring in the long run. Genes of men have continued in the handful of healthy offspring, “winning by quality.” Men, on the other hand, prefer women who have fertility-related traits when choosing short-term partners and want to have sexual contact with more than one such woman in the short term without serious commitments and more investment. With such children born of lovers, the genes of men may spread in a short period of time. They invest a small amount of money and get a large number of offspring, that is, “to win by quantity.”
