The Leizhou Rare Marine Life National Nature Reserve (hereinafter referred to as the Leizhou Reserve) is one of the most typical tropical regions in China’s coastal waters, with the richest species and the most complicated ecosystems and biomes. The coral reef ecosystems and seaweed bed ecosystems here are discovered in recent years. White clam amphibians and harbor seals are all new records in this area. In addition, some specimens collected from this reserve have not been named yet and are yet to be further studied. Recent studies have shown that the Leizhou Peninsula may be the dividing line between the Indian Ocean dolphins and the Chinese white dolphins (or subspecies). Therefore, the population of white dolphins in the waters of Leizhou Peninsula is of great significance for studying its classification and evolution. There are at least 4 species of dolphins living in this sea area, which is of great significance for studying their niche.
