The financial collapse of 2008 led to a dramatic shift in the views of world leaders. Has the crisis created favorable conditions for the reform and rejuvenation of economics itself, from a discipline governed by mathematical techniques to a system that understands the real world and a participant? And why the warning of financial collapse has not been paid attention? Recent issues are both related to the global victory of market-based ideology and to the role of exaggerated modeling and eligibility. Part of these failures in economics is due in part to the discipline itself, but it is also the result of a greater range of institutional and cultural forces working.
