世界正处于信息时代。据资料统计,全世界每年出版大约100万种图书,面对书市的书山文海,浏览之中,我发现,图书封面上图形语言比较明确的,就能很快读懂封面而获悉该书的基本内容。由此可见,图书封面在图书发行、传播中的重要作用。我认为,当代图书封面设计应面向现代化和国际化,创造一种以图形为主,色彩、文字为辅的三位一体的新型的语言体系,以便使大多数读者通过读封面,就能获悉该书的思想核心。图书封面,最早是起保护书页和刊印书名的作用,后来慢慢变化,增加了表意(隐喻书的主题)和审美(悦目愉情)的作用。当今图书封面设计已成为一种艺术创作。它依靠视觉图形、借助文字,以对比、反衬、隐喻等手法,一方面让读者了解书籍内容,另一方面又让读者产生悦目的美感,从而获得广告效应,促成读者的购书行为。
