Six tropical fruits such as lychee, longan, mangosteen, rambutan, mango and pineapple were first exported to the United States fresh fruit market, whereas many years ago, Thai fruits were mainly exported to the United States as canned or fruit juice. Thai officials are working with the Department of Animal and Plant Health Services of the U.S. Department of Agriculture to make provisions to ensure the quality and safety of fruits and to prevent the spread of pests and diseases that Thai fruit may carry in the United States.
