During the period of “13th Five-Year Plan”, Guangdong’s economic development is still in a strategic period with great accomplishments as well as facing many new challenges. As the world environment is complex and volatile, the international competition in Guangdong will be even more fierce. China’s in-depth implementation of such major strategies as the “Belt and Road”, the free trade zone, the Chinese manufacturing of 2025 and the “Internet +” have brought major opportunities for the development of Guangdong. At the same time, we should also realize that there are still some outstanding problems in the development of Guangdong itself: the outstanding shortages of science and technology innovation, the lack of innovative leaders, the lack of highlights in the advanced manufacturing industry, and the weak ability to integrate high-end global resources.
