Intercultural communication plays a vital function in global development, and cultural value is the core area of culture. Hofstede’s theory of cultural value plays an important role in intercultural communication. Alice Walker’s Everyday Use is a typical work of intercultural communication. Through the analysis of Everyday Use by using Hofstede’s value dimensions, this paper understands the influence of cultural value on the characteristics of the protagonist, as well as the factors that lead to the change of cultural value.
