Cable and Wireless (C & W) The translation of Cable and Wireless to “Cable and Radio” seems correct, but in reality this is the name of the British Eastwire Office or the Eastern Cable Company. Early telegraphs were transmitted by direct current to an overhead single rail line (land line, with ground gas to complete the loop) and could not cross
