中国近现代音乐教育可划分为1840-1910、1911-1930、1931-1936、1937-1949四个历史发展阶段,逐步形成了近现代音乐教育的发展特色。从当前音乐教育角度分析中国近现代音乐教育的得与失可以看出,“美育”的提出,使中国音乐教育从此走上更加正规与系统的阶段;引进西方的音乐教育体制,促使中国音乐教育走上了更加系统更加正规的道路;培养了大批的优秀人才,为我国在世界音乐领域中争得了荣誉;盲目以欧洲西方理论为主,取代了中国传统音乐理论;音乐作品中,或多或少存在模仿的效果;价值观、世界观、人生观,都有以西为重的倾向。
