There is a need in the city for systems that can direct drivers to parking spaces to ease traffic congestion and promote commercial prosperity in downtown areas. In many suburbs, one-third of the cars on the road have actually reached their destination, just around the road to find a parking space. As a result, a series of problems have arisen, including pollution, traffic jams and accidents. Now, the mass installation of sensor marshalling networks in city streets may ease the situation by helping drivers find parking spaces quickly. Jay Primus said: “We’re trying to make it easier to find a parking space.” "He manages the San Francisco-based SFPark project, the most advanced smart parking system in the United States.
