《中庸》是儒家学说中一部极为重要的经典,探析其核心概念的英译有助于我们更准确地理解和表达《中庸》深邃的哲学意蕴。通过对比辜鸿铭和理雅各的《中庸》英译本,探讨首章“性”、“道”、“教”、“中和”四个核心概念的英译,试图说明在翻译典籍时充分理解源语文本文化的重要性,从而进一步促进中国的对外文化交流。
The Doctrine of the Mean is an extremely important classic in Confucianism. Analyzing the translation of its core concepts helps us to understand and express the profound philosophical connotation of the Doctrine of the Mean. By comparing the English versions of Zhong Yong by Ku Hong-ming and James Legge, this paper explores the translation of the four core concepts of “sex”, “Tao”, “teaching” and “neutralization” It shows the importance of fully understanding the culture of source language when translating classics to further promote China’s foreign cultural exchange.
